Summer at White Stallion Ranch: “It’s Not That Hot”
There’s a certain kind of person who loves summer at White Stallion Ranch.
Most people visit during what we lovingly call the “nice weather” months, and for good reason. But those of us who spend our summers here know there’s something special about this season that can be hard to put into words.
Perhaps no one appreciates summer at White Stallion Ranch more than Michael True.
Now, if you’ve ever met Michael, you’ll know he’s not the type to complain. He’s the kind of Arizona cowboy who can spend all day in the sun, fixing fences, moving cattle, or tackling whatever problem the ranch throws at him. When temperatures climb into the triple digits, he’ll usually shrug and remind everyone, “It’s not that hot.”
But let the temperature dip below 60 and you’ll spot him in a jacket zipped clear up to his chin, wondering why anyone would choose to live somewhere so cold. For all his toughness, Michael has never quite made peace with cold weather.
Summer, on the other hand, is his season, and after spending enough time here, you begin to understand why.
Summer at the ranch has its own rhythm. You get up early to beat the heat. You spend your mornings riding, working, and making the most of the cooler hours. In the afternoon, everyone finds a little shade, drinks extra water, and waits for the sun to loosen its grip on the desert.
The sun begins to sink behind the mountains and the desert seems to let out a collective sigh of relief. The birds start moving again, the breeze returns, and people emerge from the shade. After a day spent under the Arizona sun, the evening feels earned.
Maybe that’s what makes summer here so memorable. It’s the simple satisfaction that comes from being pleasantly tired at the end of the day.
There’s something nostalgic about sitting outside after a long day, dusty and tired, sharing stories with friends and family as the desert cools down around you. Those summer evenings remind us to slow down, appreciate where we are, and enjoy the company we’re with.
It’s one of our best-kept secrets. Summer at White Stallion Ranch may not be for everyone, but those who love it tend to love it deeply. And those who get it, get it.
Plus, the beer tastes a little better after you’ve sweat through three shirts and personally contributed to Arizona’s humidity levels.
