Some of the quieter residents of White Stallion Ranch have returned, and this time, they brought company.
After Michael True reinforced their nest, we were hopeful we might see the owls come back. This spring, a great horned owl returned to the nest and is now raising three owlets, tucked safely into their spot here on the ranch.
Great horned owls are a familiar presence in the Sonoran Desert, known for their deep calls and watchful nature. Seeing them settle in and raise their young here is a reminder of how much life exists beyond the trails and arena, if you take a moment to look.
We’ve been lucky to watch these three grow (even if you can only spot a couple of fluffy faces at a time), and it’s been a quiet highlight of the season.
It’s small moments like this that make life at the ranch feel a little more connected to the land and the wildlife.
Keep an eye out during your stay, you never know what you might find looking back at you!
